Two years ago, the Dutchess County Conservative Party endorsed Doxsey, 54, for District 1. This year, Doxsey’s opponent, Republican Robert Gorman, 47, received the endorsement instead.
Doxsey said he thinks Conservative Party Chairwoman Patricia Killian denied him an interview a few weeks ago because he voted to replace her husband, Henry Killian, on the Industrial Development Agency board.
Doxsey acknowledged Patricia Killian did not actually tell him the IDA vote was the reason, but he still felt that was why he was denied an interview seeking an endorsement.
“I’m still a Conservative,” Doxsey said. He said he will run on the Conservative ballot in the September primary.
Patricia Killian said the decision has nothing to do with the IDA board vote.
“Our decision not to support Jim Doxsey was long before that particular vote came up,” Killian said.
Killian pointed out Doxsey caucused with the Democratic majority of the Legislature and began the process to switch to the Democratic Party.
Before his party enrollment change became official in January 2009, Doxsey chose to stay a Conservative.
Based on Doxsey’s actions and legislative votes, Killian said, “Jim is a registered Conservative on paper.”
According to the New York State Conservative Party Web site, the 2009 priorities are tax reform and relief.
“I represent the taxpayers, not the political bosses,” Doxsey said. “That is how I do my job for the public interest.”
Although Doxsey has focused on the IDA board, Killian said the vote doesn’t matter now since the new members haven’t been seated and her husband is still on the board.
Democratic legislative leaders and Republican County Executive William Steinhaus disagree over whether the March appointments were valid or not.
Doxsey has been endorsed by the Democratic Party, the Independence Party and the Working Families Party. He is a retired owner of an auto repair shop.
In the primary, Doxsey will face off against Gorman, a Republican, on the Independence, Working Families and Conservative lines.
Gorman was aware Killian denied Doxsey an interview. But Gorman said he never had the chance to interview with the Independence Party.

1. a) Politicians who spend all their time working at how to serve the special interests that got them elected and hope will get them re-elected. They couldn’t do the right thing if they wanted to or their marionette strings would be cut. They serve the Devil.
b) those elected officials (politicians) who truly serve those they were elected to serve. They do the right thing and have no strings attached to them. They serve the people.
2. Politicians who talk out of both sides of their mouth. They’ll tell you one thing to your face and do just the opposite behind your back.
Doxsey fits in Category 1.b)
Miller fits in categories 1.a) and 2.
Wait till you see the new Fairness signs!
Familiarity breeds contempt and there many who have nothing but contempt for Miller and those who encourage his underhanded ways.

Conservative Party members in this county might want to check with Killian and/or anyone on the committee and demand to know exactly how many times in the past a candidate has been denied an interview…..I’m betting you won’t get an answer. They practice that ‘mushroom’ principle – feed people manure and keep them in the dark. WOW. THE KILLIANS’ MUST BE SMOKING THE SAME STASH AS ASSEM. MILLER . YOU GO JIM DOXSEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In his first term as the County Legislator for the northern portion of the Town of Poughkeepside, Mr. Doxsey has worked tirelessly for the taxpayers of the Fariview Fire District. He has led the opposition to the Dutchess Community College dorms right from the start, and he is still fighting. And he is committed to continuing the fight. As a taxpayer of the district, I appreciate his efforts on behalf of my pocketbook and the safety of my family. On the other hand, as a previous poster stated, the Conservative Committee continues to support Joel Miller who has betrayed the Fairview taxpayers with his support for the dorms. The voters of Fairview should know these facts. Mr. Doxsey is the “true” representative of the 1st Legislative District. 7/26/2009 10:15:10 AM

Patricia Killian has got to be the biggest hypocrite in politics to call someone else a ‘conservative on paper’ when she vows her undying support for RINO Joel Miller, one of the biggest supporters of gay marriage (voted for it twice!) and abortion. Just check his financial filings and see where his campaign donations come from – big bucks from NARAL and individual donaters from areas like San Francisco. He has been named on websites as a politician for gay individuals to support with financial donations….why in the world does the Conservative Party want this guy in office?????? The party is run by basically one person, and you have to wonder why she feels so beholden to this guy despite what the party supposedly stands for. The members of this party need to open their eyes and boot her out. That’s not even talking about Fairview, which is really near and dear to me. The Conservative Party is only Conservative on Paper If as stated here: “According to the New York State Conservative Party Web site, the 2009 priorities are tax reform and relief.” Then they should have supported Doxsey. Gorman’s lived at his current address in District 1 since 2003 and only in May of this year was he surprised with the state of needed tax reform specifically in District 1 which has made headlines many times over the past year and a half if not for the past two decades. Very few vote a party line nowadays. Informed voters know it’s the person and what they stand for that counts. Those in Leg. 1 will vote for the person that’s been there for them and they know who that is – the conservative party doesn’t.
